Default D30, 3:73 and 37's...

Anyone running this setup? I bought an AEV 3.5 SC lift and some Black Pintlers to go with it. I am looking at buying used tires and I have found some killer deals on 37's. Am I crazy? I am not going to be doing any crazy wheeling. I won't be doing any rock crawling, just light to moderate trails maybe once a month. I know, BOO for the once a month thing...it could always increase. Thanks for the help.

Oh, I have a 2011, JKU Sport.

you will feel a good amount of power loss but, that's about it. i would definitely leave it open and make sure to install c-gussets but, for how you plan on using it, you'll be fine.

I assume you have an auto (3.73). If so, the loss of power on the highway will cause constant shifting in and out of overdrive. You can turn off the OD but your gas mileage is going to really suffer.

My buddy just did a 3" lift and got a full set of used 35"s for a great price. Maybe 75% tread left. Not sure the reason but these used tires and their wear pattern is making his jeep perform very poorly. Death wobble type effect.

Be careful with used tires even if they are a killer deal.

Not to hijack, but is there a place in ftw selling 37s cheap or something? If so, you want to share the info with a fellow texan?

You'll be better off with 35's. The 3.73 is tolerable with 35's, but will probably end up wanting to re-gear with 37's. If so, that will negate any money you save.

Also want gussets, maybe sleeve too.

Could be he is looking at the humvee take offs advertised in craigslist for a 16.5 wheel which isn't made in a 5x5 bolt pattern. Hopefully he will post up and let us know.

I'm running 34's a with 3.73 auto, and as soon as these wear out I'm bumping up to 37's. I just turn off O/D as so as I turn the key. I'm gonna gusset my C's though. Eventually ill re-gear. It can wait for now. As for used tires. I got some pro comps used with a lot of tread left back when I had a Colorado and two of them blew on me when I was going 70mph and we almost flipped. I just can't bring myself to buy used tires or any pro comp product ever again.

I ran 37" Mickey Thompson Mtz's on a D30 with 3:73's and evo c-gussets.

The only thing that failed was a driver side u-joint, no big deal, easy fix.

It did kinda suck on the highway at speeds past 65. Yes, I could get it to 75, but I felt like I was beating it to death to hold that speed unless it was perfectly flat. I live at a 7000+ ft elevation as well, and had heavy bumpers, winch, rails, Wife, three kids, two dogs....

If it is a good deal, go for it. If it doesn't work out, there are usually people wanting to "trade up" to 37's.

Great info. I actually have a manual trans. I think this will make it better. I forgot to mention that I have a Magnaflow Offroad exhaust and CAI installed. Both of these items have helped with the power problem. I'm not saying that I'm going to race a vette, but I did beat a malibu sometime last month (1 for the JK, 0 for the malibu). As far as the used tires go, I have been waiting soooo long to install my lift kit, I am dying to have it up in the air. I might just save my money and buy new 35's, it's just going to take longer. I can't bring myself to put the lift on and drive around with those tiny little sport wheels. Lol! Thanks for the input.

BTW, backwoodjk, You'd like to know my JK is MANGO TANGO! Rock on!
