Cutting off the front bash bar

There is no way that thing is for structure support, it is mounted with week metal tabs like others have said. There is a real crossmember just behind it and the bumper provides support too, especially if you have a aftermarket steel bumper.
Anyway, I cut mine off a long time ago, and rotated my electric sway bar up and out of the way too.

I think there are bumpers on the market that have skids that actually go over that crossmember. We built my bumper and now that cross member serves as extra support for my skid!
I wouldn't cut it off, atleast until you have something to put in it's place to stiffen it back up.

I guess I can agree with that. Dont cut it unless you replace it, just incase or it makes you feel better. But the crossmember itself isnt that beefy. I am glad I replaced it.
The bumper/skid combo I used was the basic DX and skid, it called for it to be removed.

I cut mine off and replaced it with Expedition One rubi skid plate. This will give you a lot of clearance plus it is much stronger than the bash bar.
If you do not have an electronic disco, you can probably fabricate a skid fairly cheaply. I really doubt that the bash bar is structural. Its so flimsy.

The bash bar is known as the under-rider bar and no one really seems to know what the hell it is for except the engineers that drew it up. I suspect it has something to do with front impact with small cars.
