Default Custom Flares

I`m planning to build my own flares.

At the moment with my new tyres they are sticking 26 cm out from the JK`s side panel. So i`m intending to use brackets to bolt on towards the original holes where the old flare is hanging from. And using 2 mm aluminium tread plate.

My question is if anybody can say that it is thick enough to use 2mm aluminium?

Each flare has 10 heavy duty support brackets.

Thanks for the responses in advance.

Btw i`m new here, and super happy to be a Wrangler Owner.

I've seen a vid of this Jeep. It's on hydrolics and can go up and down to any height.

So i build these plastic ones, which was created for a quick fix to make it legal to drive.

Then i ripped the nasty plastic ones off, and cut and bolted the brackets on

And here is the finished first fase.
Still todo
- round up the two corners
- add more bolts on top of the plate.
- add two more brackets at the front, i could not bend it by hand so will have to do that at work
- Then i have a dilemma to either leave it aluminium color or change it to black.
i`m thinking black.

- Final touch is to add Edge Trim to make it look finished.

These are the jobs for the next days as i only have two hours of daylight a day after work.
Finished this first stage in two hours

Btw i have no experience in modding a car, or anything todo with cars for that matter, so crits and suggestions are always welcome.

Or tips regarding my crazy adventure

I like the originality man, and so far looks decent. I would definitely paint those bad boys though JMO, im not of fan of shiny stuff. Maybe use some bedliner if you do. Ill definitely subscribe to the thread this is interesting.
