The AEM air filter in MY OPINION is better than stock. I take the lid off for dry trails and daily driving and put the lid back on in wet conditions and river crossings. Thats why I also using double protection outerwear dust protectors when running without lid.

Once the lid is back on it is completly sealed. ALso the AEV snorkel inlet brings more cooler air to the box all the time especially when in hot weather with lid open it works great.

What box did you use for that? I've been kicking around the idea of doing the same to keep my Airaid intake, but add an AEV snorkle to try and get the best of both worlds.

I added the Outerwears pre-filter recently before doing a bunch of off-roading, it worked wonders. Kept the Airaid from packing with dust (did over 100 miles of trails and dirt roads). I pulled the filter off after all of that and the inside of the intake tube was still shiney, not a hint of dust, so the filter setup definitely did the job. I think the extra breathing capacity was probably a plus at high elevation as well.

Not a box, but someone here made an air dam to keep the ht air away from the intake. I can't find it though.
