Default cragar soft 8 - 16 inch DONT fit ..

guys be carefull when ordering cragar soft 8 steel wheels,,,16 inch
with 5 INCK BACKSPACE,,i had ordered 4.5 backspace and recieved 5 in.
went ahead and installed them,,looked preety good and everything but Someone else just told me that the front brake pad brackets will contact the wheel, so i went and checked and indeed the brackets are preety much in contact with the wheel, and may cause a problem later,,
so there is 2 options,,,grinding on the bracket just a tad. or replacing wheels.

good thing is I can return this wheels localy but they look great, and like the way they stick out,, so i dont know if it will be wise to grind a bit on the braket,, warranty speeking

luis

Default Wheel spaces

I'm not an expert on the subject and don't know the cost, but I think wheel spacers will solve the problem without having to replace your wheels.

update.
well went back and looked again ,,i was able to pass a piece of paper between the bracket and wheel so they are not touching but preety close
,,they realy look like the are but they dont,,
maybe a washer will do,,

can someone check this on 4.50 backspace to see if its the same?

thanks

actualy they make it in 4.25 ,,
now i dont know what is the safe distance between the bracket and the wheel
thats why if someone has other wheels and can measure that it will be nice,,

so far they dont touch but very very close,, i will take a picture,,
mybe its no big deal ,, i dont know ,,just want to be sure.

those are the exact same wheels I was gonna get as well. I think we all wouldappreciate it if someone else chimed in with expereince with this setup or something close like luisjg was saying. Thank you for posting luisjg, you may have just saved me from making big mistake. I've heard of others running 5" of BS without having a problem, is this near touching problem only with Crager Soft 8's (16x8)?

You might be able to throw a 1/4" spacer on them and then theymight be ok, cost you about $15.

I have 4k on the OD. It is close but it doesn't rub. I've wheeled thru mud, sand and streams and never got anything stuck in there.
