i wish but don't have the change to do that at this point and time. i already have a new t-case that i got for the new orange jk and so i will just be using it for now. as far as the future goes, who knows. if funds become available, i may have to consider it but the factory t-case hasn't been too bad so i'm not feeling an urgent need to upgrade.

agreed. i may have to give his t-case a look just to see.

as mentioned above, no. the cost to swap now would be significant and i don't have the funds. also, i'm not entirely unhappy with the factory t-case and so keeping it is fine with us.

When you swapped t-cases, did you install the vibration damper doohickey? I didn't on mine, and have been wondering about getting one.

Glad you found it the easy way. As others have said it would be nice to know if this is a common spot for cracks.

just go to the dealer parts department and have them search for doohickey. That is the ez way to find it.

Hmmm. So it sounds like slight driveline vibe is more common than not? I still have a slight vib from the front, even after swapping from OE JE Reels to the 1310s with replacement flanges. I hope this isn't in my future...

funny thing is, not all nv241-or's came with the vibration dampeners. in fact, i have found that most don't. but, none the less, i left the bolt on one on the back of the case on but took off the one for the rear output shaft. don't think that would have made a difference anyway as i only had vibe issues when my shafts were out of balance.

looking back at trail bud's pics, the main bulk of his cracks were on the front half of the t-case as well. hard to say if that is where it started from as the entire thing blew up but, they do look similar.

oh yeah, being that i'm heading up to tahoe in a couple of weeks and wheelin up there, it would have really sucked to blow my case in the middle of nowhere.

up front and with 5.13 gears, yes, it is very common unless you have your caster set to stock or flatter. of course, the trade off is flighty handling on the highway. if you had manual locking hubs, you could have the best of both worlds but, being that the jk does not come with that feature, it's best to just keep your speed down below the vibes.
