It's on now... Have my 4.56s master kit coming from Northridge, going to install next weekend.

This is my plan and see if I'm missing anything..

Carriers... Remove ring gears and install new ones. Not replacing those bearings.
Reuse shims to see where pattern is at.

Pinions... Press off lower bearings to get shims. Reuse factory shim to see pattern.
Hone out old bearing, so can reuse to check pattern.

Once pattern is good. Press on new bearing.

Check preload, back lash and all that fun stuff.

Have all the tools... Just been a few years since doing a diff. Jeep has 6000 miles... Reason I'm not replacing all bearings

Do not hone out old bearings to use as set up bearings. If there is any slop in the bearing your pinion depth will be out. Bearings are cheap, buy an extra set to hone out.

Make sure to do another pattern after final install...

DO NOT get in a rush! Gears have to be precise and close enough will not work. Take your time, double and triple check everything. I know some guys that have gotten excited because they were almost done and viola, need another set of gears.

Last time I did some, I took an entire weekend all day long and had it done.
