could 5in backspace work?
So I've done some research and read the FAQ but I need a little help. Also, the search function isn't working right now. Ok, here goes.... Looking into lift, rims, and tires for my 2012. I had 4" Rough Country lift on my 2007 JK with 20x9 Fuel Hostage wheels with 4.5" bs and 35" trail grapplers. Loved this set-up.
Now for the 2012.... I'll be going with either the Rancho or Rough Country 4" lift and 35" trail grapplers. Eventually, I would like to upgrade to 37s when the 35s are done for. The 35s and 37s are both 12.5" wide. The wheels I really want to go with are Moto Metal 962. Only problem is that they're offered in a 20x9 with 0mm offset or a 20x12 with -44 offset. This would give the 20x9 a 5" backspace and the 20x12 a 4.77" bs.
I live in Louisiana so besides mud and maybe an occasional mild trail, I'm not a hardcore offroader. I don't mind a little rubbing at full turn but I don't want to damage anything prematurely. I don't mind the tires sticking out past the fenders either. I'm aware of re-gearing, the exhaust mod, driveshaft problems, etc. I just need help with choosing a wheel. I'm assuming the 20x12 would just be way too wide. Is that 1/2 inch difference in bs (vs the recommended 4.5) really a huge deal? Could it still work?

I currently run +10mm offset and 35. I get just a little rubbing of the swaybar at full lock and max articulation. Only enough to rub the paint off the swaybar. If you run 0 offset, you will have more clearance and should not rub with a 12.5" wide tire. Of course, there may be minor differences from jeep to jeep....
P.S. I run 2.5" bumpstops and the Teraflex shocks for a 3-4" lift.

I have 4.75in backspaced wheels with 12.50 tires and it is very close to hitting the control arms at full turn, If I had 5in of backspacing I would be rubbing. If you don't mind a little rubbing at full turn then do it up, it prob wouldn't hurt anything. And you can always adj the steering stops.

Those are nice wheels, but why buy something that you know is going to cause problems? You should try to find something you like with 4.5" or less.
Plus, 20" is a little large. It will look nice if that's what you're in to, but you would save a lot of money if you went with something closer to a 17". Even 18" would save you a considerable amount of money on tires.

That's why I'm asking on here. I really fell in love with these wheels but if they're going to be a ton of trouble, I'll look for different wheels. I really don't want to run spacers either.
I do like these wheels enough to go through a little bit of a headache/problems to have them but like I said, if it's too many problems, I'll keep looking.

You should be fine when I had 20x8.5 35x12.50x20 toyo mt , I hardly ever rub unless I was off camber and the only reason I rub was because the toyo had those nubs on the outside of the wheel if it didn't have those it would have not rub

I wouldn't take the chance. It would suck to find out after your lift, etc. that the tires rub, and then you'd have a lot of wrapped up into wheels you can't use (unless you then decide to run the spacers). Just my $.015 (economy effect).
