Default Cost to rebalance

The local 4x4 shop wants 15 dollars per tire to rebalance. Does that sound steep or about right?

ouch, I got my tires mounted and balanced for 10.50 per tire. 32's though.

Maybe if they are 37's and they have a road force? balancer... will they guarantee their work?

For a 4x4 shop to charge $15/tire is pretty good. They have experience with oversized tires and have the right to charge a premium. I've seen regular tire shop charge $10/tire. I would pay the extra $20 and have a 4x4 place do it right (assuming they know what they're doing).

What! Do you drive on feathered roads? I've got 15k on my stock BFG muds and I'm down to half the tread. I drive a fair amount on loose gravel roads and such, but 72k miles! That's gotta be some kind of record for a mud tire.

The main cost is the hourly time for the tech plus overheads - put in that context it seems about right (or even cheap!).

I have 18K on mine and they look brand new....literally. I wouldn't be suprised if I get 75K miles out of them.

I went to a tire shop in Shreveport, LA while I was out of town and got mine road-force balanced. The guy had mercy on me as I was traveling and didn't charge me anything but it was advertised as $25 per tire.
