Cost for junkyard axle swaps?
So I've been doing some research for swapping out axles and my parts pricing has me wondering. For those of you that have completed junk yard axle swaps how much money are you into them for? If you could include what the donor axles were and what parts you used that would be helpful.

I put an 8.8 in a yj. Rearend was $250 and I had about $400 in parking brake cables, perches, and other mounts. I needed a new drive shaft. That was $500. Then I decided to change gears and add an ox locker $1500.
Lets see. $2650. I'm sure a jk will cost even more. Plus you should maintain factory traction control. If I had paid labor on mounting and welding it would have been cheaper to buy a setup rearend.
$4000 bucks for a plug n play mopar d60 doesnt look so bad to me.

I would say im into mine for 1250 in the rear (chromo and spool, but added cost of spindles) . And the front was around 2500. (no chromo shafts or 35 spline hubs yet) if im not mistaken
My rear is an old dodge, front is a 98 f350.
Id go full sterling set or newer 14b rear and sterling front if i were to do it again.
I also got to sell my factory Rubi axles.. In end it was not much at all. Just my own time

Currently running 37's on 44's. Prorock 44 front, stock 44 with chromoly rear shafts. Basically looking for something more reliable. Don't want to snap a shaft everytime I go out. The closest legitimate legal wheeling I have is about 2 hours away. I don't want to be the guy that screws everyone because my junk is broke again and we're wrenching in the parking lot instead of wheeling. The stuff we do has gotten more and more difficult over the years. I should have just built a buggy, but plans change and what I wanted to do with it 4 years ago would make me call my younger self a pussy.

Haven't done an axle swap on my Jk but I'm in the process of making a buggy out of my 1987 Toyota pick up. I am doing a axle swap and here are the specs and costs
Front- Dana 60 Kingpin (out of a 1982 dodge army truck) (passenger side drop)
Axle itself was $750
$300 in rotor and calipers (they were shot)
$209 for Spicer 35 spline stub shafts
$90 for new ujoints
$377 for 35 Spline Yukon Hubs
$272 for Yukon 5.38s
$655 for Detroit
$135 for master install kit
$129 for diff cover
Rear- 14 bolt
Axle it self $118
$309 for yukon spool
$245 for Yukon 5.38
$195 for master install kit
$140 for diff cover
$300 for disk brake swap
You can add it all up... Lol it makes me queasy
Hope this helps

Jeep would need to remain streetable preferably with traction control and abs working. Looking specifically at axles using the artec swap kits as I'm probably going to be keeping the stock style control arms configuration for a while.

Price will be all over as it really depends on what you want to do. I personally favor newer axles as they don't need a bunch of upgrades. We'll go with my setup and what happen to be my favorite JY swap.
2005+ Super Duty D60 and Sterling 10.5: $1000 (get some closer to 2010 with lower miles and reuse everything)
Artec swap kits: $750
Or, choose your own brackets and save about half that.
New rotors and brake pads: $300
Tone rings and mounts: $55
e-brake cables: $50
Drive shafts: $1000
I left out gears and lockers as that can range from $0 to $3000. Ford offered something in the 4.5x range, so you could in theory resuse the gears if you didn't have cash for lockers and a gear swap. For $3k you get new gears, install kits, air lockers and install.
If I were asked to build a set for a friend who was on a budget, it would be around $5000 front and rear, done right, including gears and lockers.
In my case, I added RCV shafts, Reid knuckle, high steer arm, etc. I have around $7500 into mine ($2100 for RCVs killed me). I also replaced things like ball joints, some seals, etc. Anyway, $5k is a slam dunk. You could sell your current axles for more than that. I sold my Rubicon axles for $4850. Almost covered it all until I got the axle shafts.

What interference? People love to talk about it, but lots of guys running them without an issue. In the off chance there is contact, it would just be the shi##y skid. In that case, just bend it to clear.
