I have a 12 Rubi. I'm looking at AEV 2.5" lift in the future, no money for it now.
So with the new exhaust set up on the 12s, instead of spacers for the exhaust, could I alleviate the issue of the DS hitting the exhaust by getting an after market DS?
And if I go 3" would I need to replace both driveshafts? Or just the one?
I do a lot of reading on here and have learned so much from you all. Used to have a 07 Sahara that I put a 2.5" procomp lift, didn't like it at all.
but I think that'll be a good set up for the 12 with the AEV

Have A 12' too and this is stoping me to go bigger because drive shafts are not in my budget for me so I've decide with teraflex 2.5". With my research under 3" your fine, 3" and above either spacers or new drive shaft at minimum in the front, but if you run aftermarket skid plates I've heard the spacers don't work to well with them

That is what the research says- do the front DS since they are thinner in diameter to avoid issues.

As to front and rear- it depends on funding, but at 2.5" (without weight-f&r bumpers, etc, etc) I would have money set aside for a rear.

2012+ at 2.25" of lift you need an exaust spacer from teraflex.(there is a YouTube video by teraflex showing the issue). If you have a 4-door you can also get a aEf Y-pipe instead. That is on boot to worry about in the middleish part. The one that is a bit more worry some over 3" is the cv joints boot. It's right at the end of the front driveshaft, and connects to the transfer case. Same thing with both cv joints on the rear driveshaft. If those break it let's grease out and ruins the cv joint.

The best option is to get the front DS. I would not waste money on the exhaust pipe change. That loop is in the pipe for a reason. You can add spacers but with 2.5" lift you should not have to worry about it for awhile. I have 3.5" lift on my 13 and have no problems with the stock DS with 10000 miles with lift and 13000 total. Yes I do wheel mine often with the front disconnected. I have Tom Woods DS for the front just haven't installed it yet.

Ok, so new/after market DS will be ok with the exhaust, that's what I was thinking, but wanted some more input.
I really don't feel like putting spacers on the exhaust, spacers are for heavy bumpers :-)
Thanks everyone!
And if I do, say, a 3" lift, I shouldn't need to worry about the rear DS right?
