Default Converting 2wd to a 4wd

I know other parts will be needed such as new driveshafts, etc, but what I'm asking is will an axle and transfercase bolt to a 2wd jk without too much modification?

Losing my patience waiting on a rubicon I ordered, having ideas about purchasing an X and placing an atlas and 60's under it.

If you have to ask this question you are not capable of the project in question.

I'm sure that hits could be done, but my biggest concern would be with the ECU... On our JKs, it talks to just about every component of the vehicle, so you'd have to run it past a dealer to get the 4wd flash, and unless you have a friendly one, the chances of that are pretty slim. It would probably be less of an issue with a manual tranny than the autos.

If upgrade is the path you want to take or as you say 'projects is my middle name', consider getting a 4wd X and upgrading that.

x2

You are in way over your head if you come into a forum asking that question. With all the computer controlled equipment in the Jeep, you're better off buying a 4wd and turning that into a project.

I had someone ask me when I had a YJ if it was 2 or 4WD and I just laughed because at that time the Postal Jeep was the only 2wd "true" Jeep made. I was really floored when I read that the JK would be available in 2WD trim. But to answer the thread wait for the Rubi. I have a Sahara and wish I had waited for the 08 Rubi's.

Not all X's are 2wd are you telling me that with the 08s out now your dealer hasn't got a 4wd JK in any trim level, be it X, Sahara or Rubi? That seems odd.
