I expect the ST's don't do quite as well in mud but have a longer tread life.

Thanks for the feeedback Stuka! Nice to hear from someone that has had both. I'm also considering the Big O XT (made by Cooper). Main advantage of it is lifetime free balance and 3 year no questions asked replacement.

STT's are great tires I have had a set of 33x12.50R17 them on for 3 years (65K km's or 42K miles) and these things will not wear out! I want 35's this spring but I still have close to 1/2 the tread left on my 33's

They have performed just as well as my Toyo M/T's I had on my trucks for wear and off-road performan. The STT's and are much lighter weight wise and much lighter on the pocket book than the Toyo's. The only drawbacks they don't have as strong side-wall as the Toyo's and like most M/T's they stink on ice!

x2 these are what I'm getting
I was debating between the Nitto trail grapplers and these, very similar reviews but the nitto's are only in load range E (35x12.5x17) and are a quite a bit heavier

I paid $300 for 37x12.5x17, included mounting/balancing with free rotation and balancing for life of tire from local vendor.

315/75/16's are about $250 local. Sears also sells them. They have the ST's now for $216/tire in this size. Discount Tire can get the ST's but not the STT's last time I checked.

Don't know about the stt's but had cooper st's and it took me almost 70,000 miles to wear them down so I could get to 35s.
