Yes, if you plan on snorkeling with your jeep.....by all means BUY ONE...!!!

Default S & B intake

One of the first items I purchased for my JK was a CAI. Noticable sound difference and the butt dyno says its faster!

I agree with you. If a CAI doesn't provide any benefit I may as well go with a snorkel that *will* provide functionality and certainly cooler air than that found under the hood.

It would be interesting to see a dyno with a snorkel vs a CAI.

Is that conjecture or is there some empirical data? A third party vendor on this forum with many JK dyno runs under their belt suggested a 2-3% decrease in hp with a Snorkel.

I am personally unable to confirm anything outside of the increased length of the intake tube reducing pressure, which is pretty simple fluid dynamics stuff.

There are very few "true" cold air intakes out there. One of them being a Volant. Anytime you can get more cooler air into the engine it will help performance. Thats a proven fact. How much depends on the engine and other modifications. A CAI by itself will not have as much of an effect on on engine as one would with a performance exhaust and programmer.

It all depeends on what you want to do with your JEEP. Putting on a snorkle, I would definetly put on a "true" CAI. Other than that just invest on a good drop in filter.

There are a few things fighting against getting more air in to increase performance. There is the AIT sensor which measures the intake temperature and then the MAP sensor which measures the pressure in the manifold. Then the PCM determines the trim on the throttle body. About the only place you really find some help is at WOT, and as stated to truly benefit a programmer and exhaust upgrade are needed.

The one thing that CAIs excel in is sucking a much higher volume of cold

water into the engine.

Default True Flow XDI Air Intake

Yes finally I bought my True Flow XDI Air Intake last Wednesday and today I received that one from Quadrateq

The installation took me 30 minutes every thing went pretty smooth except for the air censor , a bit tricky to remove.

Carr feel more torquy now, a lot more respond it specially in first and second gear no to mention the sound very awesome .
