Clunk- turn Clunk-Bump Clunk
#21
I have the EXACT same issue. When I am turning over a slight bump in the road, I get a clunk like the wheel is dropping too fast. Anyway, I took it in (still under warranty, no lift, stock tires) and they replaced the dampeners. No luck there... They asked me to bring it in for a whole day next week so they can get to the bottom of it. I update if I find anything out....

Mine does the same thing. It is an 09 Rubicon with 6,500 miles. Stock suspension and stock tires, gears ...etc. I have not taken it to the dealer yet, I hate to do that unless it is a last resort.

Mine only does it now under heavy braking as we noticed this weekend.
It's definitely on the driver side front of the truck.
I'm seriously thinking it's maybe the control arm bushings or bolts on that side or the caliper bolts working themselves loose or the caliper binding or something.
It happens in 2wd so it shouldn't be front axle u-joint or front driveshaft related.
Is this happening to people without wheel adapter/spacers?
If so, I can eliminate them as the cause.

I have the same issue from mile 4000,learned to live with it as I checked again and again and could not find anything worrying. Would be very interested though to find out what might that be. Please revert with any news on solution that matter.

I have had similar issues, things things that have worked for me,
1. Checking, lubing and retorquing control arms
2. Checking, lubing and retorquing track bar
3. Checking, lubing and retorquing steering shaft

Check your sway links for sure they could be worn out or damaged....Also check your Swaybar bushings...could be shrunk or dried out.

Can anyone tell me is the boot that is on the steering shaft supposed to cover the splined end that is toward the steering box? Mine is not covering it and is all rusted.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

Alright. Just checked out a bunch of stuff on the jeep to try to isolate the clunk.
Sway bar and end links are fine. No play at all.
Tie rod ends, no play
ball joints, no play
caliper bolts are tight
the lower control arm on the driver side was tight but if I pulled on it made a metal clunk noise.
This is the rear LCA mount.
I have a feeling that the bushings are shot. :(
someone else please check their bushings as well to be sure.
It really sounds like it may be the problem.
