Default Checking axle u joint

Replaced my axle u joint last year with some greasable ones

Recently has an alignment done and the guy at the shop told me my axle u joints has some play in them. He showed me, while the jeep was jacked up, using a bar to move them up and down that the joints could move around.

Does this sound like the right way to check an axle u joint? I'm wondering if that's really accurate to show play in them? Just never heard of it being done that way, always heard about checking them by turning the wheels when jacked up.

Changed my axle ujoints a few months ago now I'm starting to get a noise under load in 4wd. Checked the ujoints yesterday very slight movement I think might be normal.

Find a different mechanic and have him check your ball joints, then.

Oh, okay. Disregard. I misunderstood what you wrote. Still, might be best to have another mechanic check your U-joints.
