Damn brother, short of pulling the seat out and drop kicking it down a flight of stairs I am out of non-destructive methods! Sorry to hear, I can imagine how frustrating this is.

did u turn the key back to normal position before reversing and braking??
can u uninstall the box?? 2 bolts up front in the seat bracket is all it is unless you had the 3rd bolt in the rear added.
if u can uninstall it, take it out then deal with it

Once you tighten the lock back up, is there a way to glue or weld a "panel" in front of the lock mechanism so this wont happen in the future? I dont have one of these and have no idea what the look/work like, I am just throwing this out there.

It's actually a great design but you have to be careful when you close the lid. I've locked myself out a couple of times when I got something jambed in the lock. Tuffy can give you instuctions on how to get in. You'll end up needing a new lock but it CAN be done.
