If I'm not mistaken, the reason why the area by the the exhaust is not skidded from the factory is because it used to be until there were too many fires caused by debris caught next to the exhaust. The Rock Hard skid covers the straight part of the pipe but not the loop. The only way debris is likely going to get caught up there is if it enters from the side since the skid extends up past the oil pan.

With my EVO skid, I actually had a 2" diameter branch get jammed in between the skid and crossover right in the middle. Was on a 6 hour drive home and stopped somewhere and smelled something burning. It had burned halfway trough the log. Pretty sure the only reason it didn't catch fire was because it was water logged. Skidding the exhaust anywhere is not without risk.

The dome washers seem like a good idea, but if they are hit by rocks and are deformed, you'll have a hell of a time getting a socket down in there. I prefer the exposed bolts myself. I can always get a bolt extractor on it even if it is deformed.

I like the beefiness of the engine mount brackets on the JCR engine skid.

For my money, I'd go with JCR.

If you hit something that deforms one of those washers, you have other problems to worry about. They are very beefy.

+1, those things are huge. I went with the RH system, it fit very well and I'm confident it will protect my Jeep.

I think I am leaning towards the RH skids, however, I read several articles about vibrations and rattling. Anyone had that experience and what would the remedy be if any?

I have not had any vibration with the RH skids. I did install the spacer plate they sent to keep the exhaust from hitting the skid.

I think the key is to install the spacer. Did you lose any significant clearance?

I don't think so. The spacer isn't that thick.

Been wheeling, banging and scraping our RH skids for 5 yrs and they are about the ONLY thing on the jeep that is not rattling. Contact their service rep Jason. He will be able to address any and all of your concerns. The dome washers hold up well against our decomposed granite. In fact, have no problem taking off our skids thanks to them.
