Can I wait to change gear oil after regearing?
Got the jeep regeared just about 500 miles ago, so its due for gear oil change and gear wear inspection right about now. A short trip for work came up. I'd probably be putting another 600 or so highway miles on it in a weekend, with some country roads, and potentially some light wheeling.
Do you think I could incur any damage to the new gears from this? I know its a gamble, but I'd like some opinions from the more seasoned mechanics.
Thanks.

Look at it this way. How many people buy a brand new vehicle and NEVER change the gear oil? You think all those soccor moms driving new Wranglers are changing the gear oil at 500 miles?
I'd bet that 75% of the population doesn't even know they have gears or oil in their diffs.
Gear failures are pretty darn rare.
You'll be fine for another few hundred miles.
