Default Can i use any dana 44 front in my jk

I am really wanting a Dana 44 up front and don't think a PR44 is in the budget. I would like to piece together slowly a Dana 44. I have found some off full size trucks for 250ish. What do you guys think??
I have an 07 X with 35s but want to go larger

Not 100 percent but I believe only any axle from a JK will fit without modifications.

07+ jk front d44 will bolt right up. Find one on the classifieds and start building it up, ball joints, carrier/locker, gears, axles, sleeves and c-gussetts and your there. Your breaks and knuckles swap right over.....

I did it to mine.

You need to check the wms of the axle. A tj axle will not work on the JK due to the fact it is 3" more narrow then the Jk axle is. Running a wider axle will not do anything to the jk and may allow you to run wider tires without spacers. Most aftermarket ton axles for the JK add at least 3" to the wms. Going really wide like 72" wms with a low bs wheel can make tight trails tough to do and you may not fit on some trailers due to the fact you will be pushing 86"+ in width.

If your going to do a d44 get a jk unit it bo.T's right in and there's some smoking deals on housings from time to time.

You don't really want different track width from front to rear and if your going to mock up a axle ie mounts, spring perches, control arm pockets etc do a d60 kingpin of a f350 and be done with it get a 5.5 lug pattern and then do the rear...can't see doing all that work to a 44 when you can do a 60 but a swap from a rubicon is simple and no fab.

What they said /\

By the time you convert a junkyard 44 to bolt into a JK you could have easily paid for a rubicon takeoff. Save a whole lot of headaches troubleshooting chassis issues due to bracketry by sticking with a factory housing.

Don't get me wrong many people can build a perfectly good axle from dom tubing and a center section but if you have to ask....... I would suggest keep a eye on the classifieds and be ready to pull the trigger on a JK unit.

Also lots of other manufactures are producing good bolt-in replacements not just Dynatrac. Pro-rocks are great but checkout solid and the Teraflex units as well might save a few bucks.

Just my 2 cents. PM me if I can help with anything.
