Default CAI with quiet exhaust

I have been out of jeep for a while due to building a family/family vehicle. I just pulled my new 2015 jkur off the Lot and am wondering if I put CAI on this new jeep will the stock exhaust restrict the flow to where the CAI is not even noticed. If I put exhaust on it I'm not wanting a loud exhaust (quietest as possible) for exhaust with a CAI on it. I know there will be some noise due to the intake sucking all that air but at the same time I've had loud exhaust all my life and I just want to get hp/performance without the loudness. Any recommendations for exhaust?

CAI really don't do much for the 3.6/8's. If you plan to use your Jeep in a dusty, dirty, wet environment you will not want a CAI for obvious reasons. If you do decide to do that, then since you have some experience with this already you know to run a sock and or pre-filter to help reduce and control those elements.

As for exhaust the 3.6/8's produce a drone with just about any aftermarket exhaust. Dynomax has a claim that they now have a drone free exhaust. I can't say one way or another as I've yet to hear one in person don't know the dBa either, might be on their website. Pop over to the RIPP site. They now have an exhaust that sounds okay from what you can hear in the videos.

On my last patrol car (a Crown Vic) I used a hole saw to open up the OEM intake. On that car, it made a huge difference in sound. When I'd punch it, the intake noise sounded like a huge Holley four barrel carburetor! But every engine/air intake is different.

LOL. That reminds me of my youth when we would flip the cover of the air cleaner housing over on the old 327 to hear that sound.

OP, personally I would not put a CAI on anything you plan to offroad in any depth of water. It sucks to be afraid (at least you should be) of hydro-locking and destroying your motor. It is not worth the small performance boost on a stock 3.6 IMO.

I was really just wanting to get the small performance gain along with the sound. My truck I just traded in had the 5.7 hemi an the CAI on it sounded awesome and the throttle response was an immediate and surprising gain. I've done my share of mud and water and am not looking to do that with this vehicle mainly dry trails and more technical stuff now. I know with the big 5.7 I won't be getting that same sound but will it still offer throttle response and some of that cool sound?

I think you will get some of the cool sound. Not sure about performance gains, though it does not seem like it would be much unless the stock airbox engineering was bad.

Yep Yankee, cutting open the airbox is the 21st century version of flipping the air cleaner lid.
But from what I've read, some manufacturers do a better job than others when designing their OEM intake. Jeep did a pretty good job so you will only get minimal performance gains.

I gained an additional 1 mpg when recently installed an aev snorkel, primarily for a CAI. Its a 2012 jku auto with half doors 32's (285/75/R17), Superchips Flashcal for shift pts, 6K miles on the odometer. Thats city driving only. About 45mph at the most. No highway mls. Outside air always colder than under the hood. And yes there is a weird throaty sound when accelerating, (I wouldn't refer to it as powerful and manly in sound tho.) I chose the aev because I already have their hood. So ease of installation and honestly, it was a direct tie in to the air box. No twists and turns with vehicle fabrications/cutting involved. From your CAI inquiry, this seems the logical route, with a little bit of hydro lock prevention.
