CAI or Perforamnce Air filter
#11
I had the K & N drop in and noticed nothing. The Airaid is not loud like some report, but combined with a good exhaust you can tell a difference in sound and performance. The filter is boxed in from all sides and the top is closed off well with the rubber seal against the hood. It is not water proof but I woould call it very splash resistant.

^^^^^ That is a great point, I answered his question but if you want to expand on it, I completely agree with the Drop In Filter/Snorkel Combo. If you want your mods to work to full potential you would want to get an exhaust and a tune as well. You'll have more air coming in, now you have to let it out!
If you have a lift w/35's a regear would definitely help.

K&N drop in and a Snorkel - A true CAI
Standard air intake systems tend to be very restrictive sacrificing engine power or efficiency in order to eliminate engine noise. Aftermarket cold air intake systems come in many different colors and sizes, and are easy to install when compared with other performance-increasing modifications. All cold air intakes operate on the principle of increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion with fuel. Because cooler air has a higher density (greater mass per unit volume), cold air intakes generally work by introducing cooler air from outside the hot engine bay. However, the term "cold air intake" is often used incorrectly to describe an air filter system with an exposed filter in the engine bay, which actually increases the temperature of the air entering an engine.

Put a K&N drop-in filter in mine last fall. Only major change I noticed was the fact that my mpg improved by .5mpg...doesn't seem to downshift near as much as the stock filter, so it must be breathing enough air to produce a little more power, but not much. For $45-$50 that they run at the autoparts store, go grab one...It'll pay for itself in very little time
