I have the EVO gussets I was just wondering if when welding them on if you can remove the ball joints (instead of keeping them cool with wet rags) and the RE-USE the same BALL JOINTS?
Anyone know? Thx

Hey rob, just from what I have heard and seen, when you press out ball joints it transfers a ton of pressure in the worst direction on the joint.

After being removed, the stock units are done, they are the worst ball joints ever. Even doing the ball joints, gussets, sleeves, and truss on my buddies xj the stress on the joints to pop them out finishes them off. I would not dream of using them again. Best bet, pop old ones out, burn on your steel, paint it up, press in new joints

An ER70-S6 would work for a wire.

Evo. Prep takes the most time, a good welder only needs 30mins to stitch it up. Nice to have skilled friends with their own shop too.

It looks like your upper C gussett hasn't been welded at the back to the axle - is this required?

I didn't realize how easy it was to 'pop' the springs out while welding in my gussets at the time. Now knowing better I'm planning on this weekend to weld the back of the upper C gusset to the axle in having clearance to do so by removing the springs - that is if it's worth it?

got the TF C gussets, nice addition for sure. My C's are bent slightly though after years of wheeling.

Got me there. Thinking buttress would be easier to wash off mud. I still have baked mud on the cats.
