Default buying lift early

I have a chance to pick up my lift on sale this week. I won't be ready to install for 6-9 months though. Besides the possibility of future price decreases, fundamental product improvements, or simply changing my mind, are there any reasons not to do it now? Will letting it sit in the garage over the winter be detrimental? Thanks for your opinions.

Prices generally don't decrease on the good lifts. You might get lucky and find a sale, but that's about it and it sounds like you already did that.

What cha buyin?

Rockkrawler long arm (most likely). Will it hurt the components to sit in the garage and not be installed for 6-9 months?

if it was installed it would be sitting outside in the snow & salt for 6-9 months.

I have a 3" TeraFlex lift in my garage that will have to wait for a while. I guess I'll find out if it was smart or not to buy it early

If your components are anything like mine, you'll here them crying softly at night wishing to go out and play, and you'll feel the piercing daggers of hate they throw at you everytime you walk by them for making them sit it out for a while.

personally, I would wait til im ready to use it to buy it..

What if you buy it, and realize it missing components or something 6-9 months after the sale.. more than likely the vendor wont be willing to easily send you extra parts.

I already checked all the parts, so pretty sure i am covered with this, but you have a good point, things do grow legs at times.

If you keep it all packaged up and don't set it on the concrete floor (moisture) you'll be fine. I just installed a lift this month on my Early Bronco that I bought in 2004. It was in a non-temp controlled boat dry storage unit. I did just that and everything was fine. I only get into trouble when I set raw steel on the concrete and leave it for months. Surface rust will form.

Let's just say the price is the same and it is not detrimental if not installed right away. Then why buy it now? Take the money, invest it for the next 6 to 9 month, and then when you are ready to buy it. you'll have a bit more money. Especially now with the market crash, it is a great time to invest since stocks are in a record low.... But even a safe investment, like CD's will make you a bit more money...
