Default Bushwacker Flat Fender Flare Turn Signal Issue

Issue with my Bushwacker Flat Fender Turn Signal Ok so after spending countless hours installing my flat fender flares on my JK and doing everything by the book, I was really disappointed to see that the turn signals on the flares don't work when the fog or headlights are on. They work when he they're off and I tested them during the install like the manual said to do and they worked fine but I was under the impression that if they worked with the lights off they would obviously work with the lights on. This was a peeve of mine when I had my factory flares and I did the DYI mod with splicing the wires and loved it. My question is, is this normal for them or is it that mine have an issue? Either way I feel like I'm SOL because now that they're on, there's no way to take them off. I'm hoping someone may have some insight on this.

Don't think the diy mod will work with led markers.. I think the bushwacker lights are led aren't they.

I too discovered this after installing them. I believe augichef is correct. When I had the OEM side markers, the mod worked. When I converted to these fenders and the LED side markers, the mod stopped working.

I ended up taking the markers that came with the fenders off and replaced them with two smaller LED markers. I now have one wired as my turn signal and one wired as a side marker. You can do this WITHOUT taking the fenders off. Take the current side markers loose. Cut the wire to them. Pull that wire back out of the fender. Mock up the replacement LEDs ( I used sealed LEDs that are about 1 1/2" long and 1/2" wide). Then use a coat hanger or fish line to go from outside fender to inside. Now pull your two sets of wires (one side marker, one turn signal). Wire up the new lights and mount them.

I know that's not a very good description. I did this after the LEDs that came with the fenders just plain stopped working. I replaced them with a fully sealed (waterproof) set.

The mod worked fine for me. Mine are on when the parking lights are on, and they alternate when the turn signal is activated.

So you have them working fine AND had done the mod prior to installing the bushwhacker flat fenders?

Yes. Don't ask me exactly what wires I used, because I can't remember. I know I spent about 2 hours with a test light, bouncing back and forth turning things on and off, before I figured it out.

That's great input and I appreciate you letting me know. At least now I know it's possible. In regards to how to fix mine, I'm stuck hoping someone will have a way to resolve it somehow.

I'm really interested in seeing what you did here. More importantly how. I thought I was SOL when it came for his issue because of how the lights are mounted and that the only fix would be on the wiring part internally
I'd appreciate any feedback here and thank you in advance.

I wish I had taken pictures. Sorry.

What year is your JK? Too lazy to look at your profile.
