Default Bump stops?

Im building a 2010 JKU sport for my brother in law. He ordered the parts since hes deployed and its a 2.5" RK max travel kit. The bump stops he purchased were the wrong ones so i had to send them back. After talking to a few guys from a local shop they said they usually dont even use bump stops on a lift that short and that factory would be fine. What do you guys think? He does minor off roading. Thanks

Bump stops are not needed for a lift. Bump stops are used to keep larger tires from making contact in the wheel well.

If I were to get a lift I would use all the components no matter what. You never know what bumps you will go over that will bottom you out. To be safe I would have the bump stops.

The kit didn't come with bump stops

Don't longer bump stops (or extension pads on the axle) also keep the shock from being the suspension stop?

With 35"s I would use bumpstops. Cheap insurance to protect your tires from rubbing and shocks from over compressing, even with a 2.5" lift.

Almost every vehicle you'd think of, has bump stops.
Their function is to prevent bumping metal on metal, at the end of the upwards travel.

If the wheel makes contact, a longer bump stop can be used to limit the upwards travel of the suspension -- but this isn't the main reason of bump stops.

The OP did not mention 35's. Yes to the bump stops with 35's. They will keep the tires from rubbing at full stuff.
