Bump stops
Quick question about bump stops. My bump stops that came with my lift BB lift are really long. I have upgraded shocks to fit the lift. Can I shorten the bump stops to get better flex? There is only about 3in between the bump stop and base where it hits.

the shorter you make the bumstops the closer u will come to contacting something. Bumpstop the suspension just to the point of contacting, if that means trimming the stop then trim. If it will hit or come close to hitting without trimming the stop then leave it alone.

your bump stop extensions are designed to help prevent the over compression of your coils. among other things, if you shorten your bump stops, you may get more stuff but, you will run the risk of compressing your coils to the point where they no longer return to their original height.

Bumpstops limit uptravel. Longer shocks extend downtravel.
Also, longer shocks have less uptravel because the cans are taller. You can flex your front out and see what limits your travel - your shock, your body (fender) or your bump stop. Then, you can shorten your bumpstop if that's what's limiting your travel.
