What year did your 14 bolt come out of. We're the 14 bolt and D 60 the same WMS 72? I'm doing this set up Soni don't have to mess with the fuel tank. Did you run into any problems setting it up.

The 14 bolt is from a 2007 2500 and it's only 68.75" wide. Not a big deal to me, let's me turn a little better etc due to the dove tail. As far as issues, I wouldn't say I had issue but you'll have a lot of figuring out to do. Checking clearances etc. it's a tight fit.

Alright, had a chance to speak to Dan at Fusion4x4, super nice guy, today in reference to some one ton goodies for my Jeep. He is working up a qoute and some options and getting back with me sometime next week. So hopefully next will have it nailed down and proceeded on with the axles and the options.
As it looks, 14 bolt rear, detroit locker, 5.38 gears and all the brackets minus the coil buckets with disc brakes. Talked about shaving the 14 bolt, but I think the cost out ways the benefits right now with larger tires in the future. The front will be a Dana 60 older model Ford with disc brakes and detroit locker and 5.38 gears. Will look at having it trussed and what other options there is for the axle next. Want to keep the cost reasonable at first and add on as needed in the future.
Was told there is offset in the trackbar mount and I would have to relocate the trackbar forward on the frame about 1". Also could possible reuse some of steering components, as already have their 2.5 ton tierod and drag link by swapping end links or joints. There is also a miss alignment with control arm brackets compared to stock and would need to have misalignment joint on the arms. Currently have Rokmen aluminum control arms and JJ joints, so shouldn't be a issue.
Wil keep everybody posted and please post up something I might be missing.

I am also considering just picking up the Spicer Ultimate Dana 60's in 5.38's
Best pricing out there?
Stock axles up for sale.

Couple of things on the sterling. It will hit the rear gas tank so you will have to do more modifications. I had to change the angle of my track bar, change out the flange to a yoke, and reshape the skid plate in order to avoid the two from touching. In terms of which is stronger... I believe the ring and Pinion setup on the 14 bolt is better, but the axle shafts on the sterling are stronger. its your call.

14 bolt sounds better I'd rather break a shaft than chip teeth out of a ring. Ideally you want the weakest link to be something on the driveshaft those are easy trail fixes if you have spares available. I'm only rolling with axle shafts at the moment probably should look into throwing at least a rear driveshaft in the back too.
