yes. that's only for the auto trans, though.

The 4:1 is plenty for Moab if you have regeared the axles.

4:1 is too much if you do higher speed sand wheeling.

10:1 is too much unless you have really large tires--40"+.

With 40s, 5.38s, and the Rubi 4:1, my 6 speed has a low enough crawl ratio that crazy stuff in Moab is cake--with the right lines. With 10:1, my crawl ratio would be so low that the torque would twist my axles or break gears before I realized that the tires were bound up. 1st and 2nd gears would be useless.

makes sense. if I can't find a newer 241OR for under $1500, I'll just grab a 2-speed atlas.

Call these guys in Las Vegas. They will swap with you and have several Rubi cases:

I have 3.21 gears, 35's and a 4:1 tcase and I find it plenty for in the rocks! Sure 4.10 gears would be better, but the case was a huge difference and I rarely stall anymore

Lots of great feedback overnight! I have already regeared to 4.10 and though this Jeep will be a daily driver for the next few years the ultimate goal is to build something pretty well bullet proof ish... Haha. Eventually I will be running much larger tires but that won't happen until the Jeep is a second vehicle.

I think for now I'm going to sleeve and gusset the D30 and forget about locking it or adding chromoly axles and get the Atlas. When the time comes I'll probably put a PR44 together and call it good.

Thanks for all of the input!

Did you miss my post that the company that does Chevy engine swaps will trade a Rubi transfer case for yours?

$0 cost other than shipping.

The Chevy tranny has a lower first gear ratio so they say they don't need 4:1. Personally i'd still want it but i dunno. Give them a call. You could still get one affordably with shipping
