I dont want to start a war as maintenance preference threads usually do, but I am going to do my brakes tomorrow and am wondering what product people have gone with, what they like and what they prefer?

Consider getting some lifetime pads. If you're doing your rears (they go fastest--my fronts are still good at nearly 80K), you're going to be replacing them often enough, and so the $60-70 will be worth it over time (of course, that lifetime warranty may not be valid if you tell the seller that you drive your vehicle off-road).

The ability to stop your vehicle can never EVER be overated.

If it costs less than your insurance deductible then it just might be worth it.

I used EBC green stuff. It's better than stock but not a huge difference.

I recently replaced the rears on my JK. I went with the Hawk LTS pads. They cost a little more than the autozone pads, but I figured since I was saving money doing it myself I'd spring for a little better product. I notice a slight difference in stopping power over stock pads. Happy with my purchase so far.

If you're not doing the brakes yourself, the I would go with a local shop who does good work. These days, that seems like a rare commodity, but if you can find it, hold on. If you're doing it yourself, the difference in product cost won't change too much so go with what you like (I went with a ceramic pad for the rears, and yes, the rears wear A LOT quicker than the front). If you don't have, or don't trust any local shops, then be wary of any shops that have "brake" in the title...Consider yourself warned!!! haha

I believe the stock brake pads are ceramic. So I would stay with ceramic pads. By changing pad compound could cause premature ware to the rotor or a lack of stopping power.
