You want better, more effective brakes, you've got to use a bigger diameter rotor.
Yeah, some will claim hydroboost or more agressive pads. But that's like putting a band aide on it. A caliper must be designed for hydroboost. The higher pressures in a caliper not designed for it can lead to more flex in the caliper and strange wear patterns on the linings. In some situations stopping distance could suffer. More agressive pads are an option, but the tradeoff could be noise, dust, and brake roughness (warping to the uneducated).
If you haven't noticed, all manufacturers are going to bigger wheels and bigger brakes. Vehicles are getting heavier. Stopping distance requirements are getting tougher. To meet all this, bigger base brake systems are required. 15" wheels are history, 16"'s aren't far behind.

Rotors
I just found something interesting. I finally found someone that is selling a real brake upgrade that isn't $10K but isn't cheep either.
http://brakeperformance.com
approx $350 to $450 for a complete (4 rotor) set.
It is pricey for a rotor upgrade but if someone can't wait for more companies to throw there hat in the ring - here you go.
Does anyone know:
what other Jeep's have the same size front/ rear rotors???
for instance Honda uses the same rotors on a LOT of there CIVICS from the mid 90's and they will are the same size and the rotors on the new '07 Honda FIt.

JK rotors are unique to JK.
Wouldn't it be nice to see some performance data from these companies that sell drilled and slotted rotors???? They sure want you to spend a lot of $$$ based on some vague claims. Maybe there's a reason they don't publish any.
