Brake Pad Suggestion from Local Shop
I'm in a position where I need to replace my rear pads and prefer to get it done today, since I'll be traveling in the next few days. Problem is...none of the local 4x4 stores have any pads in stock, so I'm caught looking at O'Reilly's or something similar.
Has anyone had good results with a ceramic pad from a big retailer? This is my DD, but it sees 1-2 weekends per month in the dirt and on the rocks. Also, I have the equivalent of 34's on my 2011 JKU. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Make sure you have new clips (some pads come with them, but most don't) and the special grease for the back of the pads and the clips (to prevent brake squeal--again, some pads come with it, but most don't).

New clips and grease very important!
I went with Power stop slotted and drilled rotors and their pads, very happy, with little wear after 35,000km. Priced well, 259 all in for the rear only at 4WP.

I just went to O'Reillys and picked up a set of ceramic pads, clips, those little rubber boots and grease. My local 4x4 shops had nothing in stock.
It was the easiest DIY to date.

Hmm. that looks interesting. I see they aren't tapered at the ends. The purpose of that taper is to help prevent brake squeal. In general, cheaper pads don't have it. More expensive pads have it. Have you experienced brake squeal with these pads?
