Default Brake line relocation bracket bent?

I just installed the 3.25 RC kit last week and noticed that my front driver side brake line relocation bracket it bent upwards at about a 90 degree angle. What could be causing this?

I am running the factory wheels with the factory offset with rubi tires. Is it possible that the tire grabbed the braket and pulled it up? I am getting some rubbing on the sway bar on the opposite side (passenger).

Put the Jeep on stands and run that wheel through its range of articulation with a jack with the sway bar disconnected. I'll bet you figure it out.

RC shows the recommended backspacing to be 4 1/2". Are you running wheel spacers with the stock wheels? If not, this could be a reason?

I am not running spacers. I plan on buying steel wheels in a month or so with 4.5 inch backspacing. I figured I would be ok for a little while since they said that factory wheels could be used.

That's correct - factory wheels can be used with wheel spacers, in place of using aftermarket wheels with the correct backspacing. Although I'm not sure that this is what caused the bracket to bend, it'd definitely be something I'd look at. Like Mark said, put the front end up on jack stands and have someone turn the wheel from side to side while you look at the range of motion of the wheels and tires to see if it's making any contact. Also, if you've been wheeling it with the swaybar disconnected, the articulation in combination with wrong backspacing could've caused it too.

Ok I think that was the problem, I didnt jack it up but I turned the wheel all the way and tied it so it didnt turn back on me and took a look, My tire was touching the brake line so I figure the tire caught the brake line and pulled the bracket up. At least thats what i think happend. Well, I went ahead and ordered black rock wheels with 4.5 inch backspacing, I am not going to screw around with this. Ill just have to be careful I dont turn all the way until they come. this should fix it, right?

Will the tire place give me any crap when I tell them I dont want the TPMS things switcehd over? I am sick of them.

Yep, the 4.5" backspacing should help - some people have had to do some minor grinding of the brake calipers; others have not. But that should definitely keep your brake lines from getting in the way of making a turn and getting yanked up.

Na, if you don't want them switched over, they shouldn't have any problem with it, but if you're going to switch your tires over to the new wheels, may as well get the tpms moved over too. That way you won't have to keep looking at the light.

I thought people only had a problem with the brake calipers when they went with 15 inch wheels? I am going with 17 inch so I shouldnt have problems, right?

The threads are screwed up on one so I cannot air it up after wheeling and the light is always on anyways because I run with 30 psi to make it a nicer ride. When I have extra cash I am going to get the programer and turn it off completely.

Well, most of the people that had caliper rubbing issues were with the 15" wheels; but when I got my 16" RCX Steel Wheels, it almost rubbed the calipers and mine have 4 1/4" BS. Ended up buying a set of 16x8 Black Rock wheels to see if that was the issue and again, exactly the same. Right now, I have approx. 1/8" clearance between the caliper and the wheel in the front. I read a thread on here somewhere where the explanation was that it had to do with the caliper differences on the axle - for example, the D44 front axle to the D30 front axle. Seeing that you have an X, you have the D30 front? I'd think it'll clear without much issues. Let us know how it goes.
