But, they came pre bent like someone may have dropped them at the Chinese factory. I briefly contemplated sending them back but shipping would have been a fortune and sadly decided risk/reward said let it be.

I bought these to hopefully protect better than the oem sahara style ones that were on there currently. The owners manual states specifically to remove those plastic ones when wheeling, i think these jk 4121 will do well for the application at hand.
I'll post pis tomorrow.
Sounds good. Definitely post pics. I currently don't have any steps at all, which is actually fine by me and my 6'1" 14 year old. But the wife and youngest child think otherwise. lol. Unfortunately, the price on Amazon has gone up to 375. They were actually 337 when I first posted this thread. So I am just going to keep my eye on them and see what happens. Not in a huge rush in the first place.

FWIW, Amazon has one of the best return policies in the world. All you needed to do was to log into your account, request an RMA, and you could have sent them back for free (within 30 days of purchase). I've done this several times with other items purchased from there.

Oh well. As mentioned, i just put them on last night (8 hours ago) and read on their website (body armor) they have factory blems for 250 available. Hell, maybe that's what they sent me!!!

I ahd these on my 2010 and thought they did just fine. Did not bash them on anything, but a great step. I believe i got mine at truckaddons.com or auto anythng.com for $275. They are great steps, probably not the best sliders. Enjoy

Exactly what he said, good steps but not good rock sliders. I had these and after some heavy use on rocks they were pointing upwards and bent my mounting points on the body.

You could have gotten them down to $280 with promo code "OFFERS12"

Default New model claims to mount to frame

Body armor claims the newer version mounts to the frame. I read the instalation instructions before ordering thanks to this forum...I'll know next week when they arrive.

These price quotes are making these very tempting. I've been looking for a cheap option for piece of mind to replace the Sahara steps. I don't "plan" on bashing rocks.

My Bad!! The Body Armor install instructions that were on Quadratec's website were dated from 07 (so the old style was frame mounted not the new)...the instructions that I got in the box were dated 09. I called the factory and found out that they modified them to a body mount because of the problems that they were having with people that hit the trails hard and had some frame/body flexing. The frame would flex and cause the frame mounted rails to contact the pinch weld anyway...this of course caused some damage to that area, not much different than the weaker styled body mount rails.

My opinion (which may change after I use them on vacation) is that the body mount version, which wraps around the pinch weld and also has a wide plate attaching the 3 points to the underside of the tub, may disperse the force better than a cheaper frame mount that is using 2 less substantial mounting points. The 2"x3" Box rails are freakin substantial enough without the bumper pipe that is attached in 5 places.

I would say if you're going to rely on a frame mouted rail then, make sure you get substantial ones and that may put us out of the $400 range and more toward $600-800.

Pictures and final thoughts to follow.
