Body Armor and body mount Rock Rails suck...
About 2-3 months ago I bought some body armor rock rails off amazon cause they were cheap and I was on a budget, first mistake, they mounted up to the same places as the stock side steps do and it wasnt to difficult to install. and the first time I went wheeling with them I managed to test them when I hit them on a rock pretty hard, but not the whole weight of the vehicle and the rail dented a bit but the mounts bent a lot and nearly came out leaving the rail angled up, luckily no other damage. see the first picture and this is passenger side
Then I made my second mistake and didnt weld supports on both of them to the frame which i should have done, and for some reason I thought it would be fine, heck they are supposed to be strong enough to hold to jeeps weight right? WRONG! went out wheeling a couple days ago and managed to put the weight of the vehicle on the drivers side rail while going down the chute at three feathers(chivo falls, az) and the mounts catastrophically failed, the nuts were torn straight through the sheet metal under the car and the smaller bolts connecting the rail to the pinch seam bent the seam up into the side of the body, denting, and into my fender flare nearly ripping that off... also managed to rip the seal on my front ds boot at the same time... lesson dont go cheap on armor if you know you are going to use it...
first pic is the dent, the other pics are kind hard to see but they are the bolt tearing through the mount under the jeep between the plate mount and body, they are supposed to be flush, the last picture the rail is supposed to be flat and level but is bent up. the body armor rails arent terrible but there are definately better
