It's not strictly needed if you already have an air hose, chuck, gauge, etc. to air up your tires. It is not included with the ARB compressor setup (something that many ppl don't understand from looking at the product shots).

I built mine from Craftsman hose and an air chuck w/ gauge from an auto parts store, but honestly I spent close to what the ARB kit costs, and my hose isn't that sexy ARB orange

FWIW, I have mine mounted in the same spot that the 2 track engineering bracket locates it. Seems to work pretty well, it vibrates the pedal a little bit when it's running, but keeps it out of the cab, accessible, and out from underneath where it's exposed to rocks, mud, and water.

I used a bit of hose to route a quick disconnect to the front grille so I don't have to pop the hood to air up. I believe this setup will work just as well with the ARB air up kit as well since the T-coupler and the quick disconnect air fitting is included.

You can actually mount it anywhere you like - as seen from the photos. Underneath, inside, under the hood, in your storage bin in the back...... just pick a spot. No disassembly required. Or like many of us - no mounting required. I keep mine in my recovery box and take it out to use it to air up. Easy...schmeasy.

he's the only guy I'm aware of that makes a skid for both the tank and the evap canister.
