Default Bilstein 5100 Install

Well normally I would search the threads on here forever, but for some reason, the search feature is broken. I got in my shocks, some 5100s. But it appears the install instructions are in german. Now, the rears are straight forward, but the fronts have me a bit confused. They came with the shock boot on, and it appears that with the metal rings on the shock boot, I can't fit both rubber bushings, and the metal plates on the shaft. Is there something I'm missing? When I installed my last shocks it was pretty straight forward, so I don't understand why this is confusing I'm taking the shock boot off anyways, because I don't like the look, so without that metal ring there, it all seems to go together right, but I don't know if I need that ring or not

And yes, I do feel bad for having to make another new thread already! Stupid search feature

so yanking the boot and the ring is the way to go? what if I had left it on?

You have it right, washer on shock stem, then rubber, insert shock into shock hole, rubber, washer, nut, tighten down till rubber starts to compress a little. DONE

Both you guys have them incorrect. The bushings are supposed to be on either side of the mounting hole. With the smaller part of bushings into the hole, then the flat washers.
So it's nut, washer, bushing, mounting tab, bushing, washer.

so, to clarify my question I guess, here are both shocks, one with the original metal ring for the shock boot (pretend there is a shock boot on that) and one without. so its not obvious, but theres almost zero thread available for the nut on top. so I feel like the one on the right is correct, but it seems odd, because the one on the left is how it comes from the factory!

also, I appreciate the clarification on which way the washers should face and which way the nubs on the bushings go

flip the washers on the one on the left and see if you get more thread -

the washers should not cup the bushing -
