Default bikini top install

Hi I have a 2008 jeep wrangler x (2 door), it is my first car. i live in Florida, and summer is coming up. this mean massive heat, and occasional storms. i have heard from many friends and fellow jeep owners that a bikini top is a great idea, so im getting one. i have been looking at the besttop header safari bikini top, because it covers your head cargo and back. I have looked through the install pdf on the quadratec website and it says nothing about the original soft top or back seats. to install this, do you have to remove the seats or pu them down? And how do you remove the stock original soft top, if you have to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. here is the link to the product i was talking about. Bestop 52585-35 - Bestop® Header Safari Bikini® Tops for 07-09 Jeep® Wrangler JK 2 Door - Quadratec

This is purely opinion based.

If you want a "safari" top then just take your windows off. That is basically what the factory soft top is without windows. If you want a bikini I highly recommend the mopar bikini top. No header to take on and off. Had mine over 4 years and looks brand new. I live in Louisiana so it's used 9 months of the year.

Now for the duster cover and wind jammer shown in the picture, don't believe you are required to remove your seat. Just fold the back seat down. The windjammer will contact the front seat unless you have very short legs. Removal of factory soft top will become second nature once you do it a few times. For the best instructions search for remove wrangler soft top on YouTube, don't remember the name.

Hope this was some help.

It's very easy to unbolt just a pain to remove alone. I do it probably 15 times a year. All you need is a torx socket, I would get the entire set, I hate torx but every damn bolt on the jeep has them.

The soft top has two support beams, both attached to the middle roll cage vertical pillar. Unscrew the 4 torx bolts and remove. Very easy. Not 100% but would think the factory soft top would need removal for a solid fit of the duster.

X2, but I've had mine for 5yrs.On for most of the time aswell. The rear straps are starting to rot off and the header itself on mine is warped now. All in all its been the best bikini top I've ever owned.
I'm looking to get a nx trektop now though since it easily converts to a bikini.
