The rub was only at full lock. I'd go 285's simply for the fact that they're more readily sourced if you need a spare somewhere. If you can't stand the little bit of rub then add a washer behind the steering stop. I wouldn't (and didn't) let these little nuances stop me from going with 285's. They're just big enough to make a difference.

So with stock springs and suspension if I get 1.5 spacers and No lift I can run the 285? I know this is prolly repetitive but I’m trying to get this right before I get these tires lol. Aren’t 285 tires 33 plus in diameter. I just looked between the bf ko3 my and ko2 AT they are 32.8 with the at being 32.76-32.8. And the nitto trail grappler is also 32.76-32.8. Other tires were 33s. I’d say my best bet if getting a 285 is one of those

This is 285's with spacers and standard flare on the left, Amazon special on the right. No lift, no rub. I'll work at more pictures. The 285 refers to the width, not the height. The 285/70-17 is a 32/33" tire and the 285/75-17 can be a taller 33 or 34.

Below would be no lift, no spacers, no aftermarket flares.

What tires did you chose. Looks more of an all terrain. I’m seeing a lot of guys chising all terrain. I didn’t want them but being up be on the trail only a few times I guess all terrain is a better move. So I have to chose 1.5 spacers. And will I fit the spare on the stock mount

These are the Falken ATW3, really decent tire. I like the bfg k02 but they're more expensive than the Falkens. If you refreshed the page you'll see I added a pic with no spacers and that's where I saw minor rubbing at full lock. It fits on the stock spare tire carrier just fine. It is in our upgrade plans to do the MorRyde carrier and hinges since we plan to keep this jeep.

My door hinges bubbled 🤦*♂️ It’s gross I haven’t searched yet but I know it’s an issue. I’m hoping there’s a hinge out there that won’t do this

Give Falken at3w in 255/80-17 a look. no nothing needed and they are a over an 1.5" taller than the stock 255/75-17. no rubbing and they really do help off road and will not affect anything on road. Price is right to going thru someone like TireBuyer.com. they ship to your installer as well.
No need for spacers to run them altho spacers make them look better.
no spacers.

I like your Jeep a lot as for the 1.5 inches in diameter larger than a 255/75/17 I find that goin to the 80 nets you an inch. I’m sure it varies. I really want a bigger fatter tire with more meat. I just like the look and larger footprint. I feel I’m gonna go with the 285/70/17. At 32.8 vs the 80 at 33.6 The size isn’t really that much different but 11.22 width to 10 is almost an inch and a quarter. But thanks for your input and your rubi is an amazing color

On paper it might be an inch but when actual mounted on the rim the 255/80-17 is much taller than stock. here they are compared to my 315/70-17. I used to like the fatter look but have really been liking the narrower tires.

If you're going for "look" and footprint then you'll need to research further into tires. I've had a slew of tires and some take the tread further out to the edges than others. This tire game is not a cheap or easy one to play and probably explains why I've had so many different tires.
