Default Big tires on stock rims?

Has anyone put 305/65/18 tires on stock Sahara rims? I plan to do a TF BB and add spacers. I know that they will clear, but will the rim take that wide of a tire. If so, how much height will I lose? My other option would be a 285/65/18. All help is appreciated.

I am running 35 x 12.5s on stock 16 alum. rims.
Best decision I have made re modding the Jeep.
Yes I have to run spacers for the 12.5 width.
Here in Arizona they are legal and having crunched the crap out my suspension they are most definately not a safety issue.
I mean I bent my lower controll arms (the factory ones) and the wheels is just fine.
I now have better adjustable lowers.

The only thing you have to KNOW before buying the tire is will it "make" a rim seal.
My guess would be it will but the mfg will know.
33 x 12 on an 18 rim is what I think you are talking about.
Don't the stock Sahara's come with 32's?
Are you sure you would need spacers even?

I actually like a good long bit of rubber sidewall on the rocks and would preferr 15s but the 16s are fine and the alum. has survived several severe flats (volcanic rock right thru the belt, repaired on trail) with no deformation.
Keep in mind the 16s are 7.5" wide.
I bet your 18s are wider than that.

Remeber Pro-Comp is the Last AMERICAN MADE OFF ROAD TIRE. The rest are all Chineese.

I have 275/70/18 on stock Sahara rims. Worked fine with and without spacers.

I'm running 35x12.5x18's on my stock wheels. I like the extra rubber on the sides. Also I think it actually holds the beed better than a wider rim. I air them down to 10psi reguraly for offroading and up to 26 for the roads.

Question Effect on gas milage?

I have been thinking about going with taller and wider tires. 33's X 12.5, pretty much like the set up that 07 Rube shows in one of the previous post. Thats a sweet looking set up.
But........I am worried about what that will do to my gas mileage. Just driving back and forth to work is running up a big enough gas bill. Does anyone know what kinda gas mileage they are getting with the larger tires?
Any info would be great.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the pics guys. I'd like to get ~ 33" BFG ATs and now I'll have some idea how they will look on the stock rims. I'm torn between getting smaller rims to lower tire cost or keeping the stockers and adding spacers.
I've also been shopping stock Rubicon take off's to get me over the hump. If I find them cheap enough I'll run em' out then get bigger next time. I just cant take the Bridgestone "street tires" much longer, they keep me on the street!
Thanks again!

The 16's are a 7" rim and the 17/18's I believe are a 7.5" rim. I am running 295/75R16's on they are AWESOME. I don't think there will be much...if any issues with running that size tire on an 7.5" rim. My tire guy said he wouldn't have any issues at all installing a 37/12.5" tire on my 16's. The JK is just a light weight vehicle. The only thing to keep in mind is that the tire manufacturer may give you grief with regards to warranty if installed on a narrower wheel...
