Exclamation BFG KO2's 34X10.5 vs 285X70

Howdy all,
So I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of KO2's on my 12 jkur.
I am now torn between these 2 sizes. I understand that the 34's are D rated and the 285's are D rated.
Other than that they appear to be about the same overall size.
The 285's are about $400 cheaper for the set of 5.
Any input would be appreciated.

Tirerack lists the 34" tire as being nearly 1" (.8" to be exact) taller and .4" narrower. Also, they list the 34" as a D-rated tire and the 285/70 as an E rated tire, weight difference is only 2lbs.

Go with what you want, $400 is big chunk of change. Since my 35s sit at about 33.5" on the Jeep, I'd expect the 34s to be around 32.5" and the 285s to be closer to 31.5" tall.

Either way, post pics of what you get!! I'm seriously considering going to the 34s and taking off my 35x12.50s. Anyone in southern Georgia needs some 35s??!

Well,
I just did some dickering with my local Discount tire.
They matched the price of the 285's for the 34X10.5's.
So i pulled the trigger.
Like the idea of the D rated for the jeep.
I will post some pictures on friday after the install.

I know it is probably too late but I got 4 ko2 34x10.5-17 for $1000. 4wd.com has them for $270 and forum members get them for $257 shipped free and Discount tire beat that at $250 a tire via Discount tire direct I just took the code they sent me to discount tire and they honored it.

That all said and done the 34's are really small. They measure 32.25" when mounted with 36psi. They ride nice on the road. I have 6000 miles on them and I really wish they were at least 33's. Offroad I run toyo 35's which do much better off road.

Wow,
That a whole lot of wheel well!!!
How big of a lift do you have?
I'm hoping that with my stock setup the tires will fill that up a little bit better.
I don't think i could run anything bigger with out lifting?

That seems about right though. 33s are not going to measure 33" when mounted. As stated above, my 35s only measure 33.5" (which is normal). I'd expect an 1" shorter tire to measure about 1" shorter when mounted as well.

Are you running wheel spacers?
