BFG 33 Minimum Requirements
I have a question that I have not been able to find a answer on the forum. I have a 2012 JK Rubicon. If I ran the BFG LT285/75R17 KM2 tires with the AVE Savegre wheel (5.2" backspacing) and no lift then where would any rubbing occur? If the rubbing location is the plastic fenders (assuming no sheet metal rubbing) then would flat fenders resolve that problem? If there would still be sheet metal rubbing then what is the absolute minimum lift required? I want to try to keep the vehicle height low.

With flat fenders you should be alright. If you are just mall crawling but ,you don't even needed that I ran that setup for a few weeks before my lift and only rubbed a few times wile flexing out.

I switched to a kumho road venture mt kl71 and had no body rubbing. Just rubbing on the fender flares. I cut my fender flares. The best way to avoid rubbing with no lift and bigger tires is to extend your bump stops. If you had a stock 31/32" tire and you are going to a 22 inch tire, extend your bump stops 1/2-1" and you should not have any rubbing. you should also only have to do this in the front as I have never had the rear tires rub....Only the front tire once on extreme flex has ever even brushed the bracket under the fender flare on extreme flex/turn at the same time.

You can put 33's on no problem. The only time you might rub is when your flexing but the flat fenders will fix that issue. You could even cut your factory fenders to save your dollars for a lift or some other goodies.
If you don't have the correct offset then you might need to adjust your steering stop.

I rubbed going over speed bumps, and while off roading, otherwise I don't remember rubbing. However I'm running 33 inch tall, 10.5 wide and the wheels have pretty good backspacing. A Teraflex leveling kit solved that problem.
