Is it submersible? How does it hold up after being under water for long?

I'd suggest the Quadratec also. Looks like a great value and the company is great to work with. May not have the swagger of a Warn, and may not last as long. But at 1/4 of the price of a Warn you can replace it 3-4 times and still be cheaper in the long run.

Love my Engo EPF10000. Its winched two land Rover Discoveries. One out of a snowy ditch and one onto a trailer. I think I paid less than $400 but I can't remember.

I will look that one up. Are you using that one on your jeep?

I ended up with the Mile Marker SEC8 Scout with synthetic rope. So far only a couple of pulls on it...one heavy pull and it didn't blink. Its worked out good for me so far, for the limited winching I do. Now, having said this, if my budget would have allowed I would have gone with the Warn M8000. Its a proven design and I've only heard good things about it. With steel cable it would be within your budget, with synthetic it would be a good bit over budget (could always upgrade to synthetic down the road if you wanted when the cable got ratty).

Our local club did a group buy on the Runva's a while back, so quite a few of us have that winch. They have proven to be very good winches.

Here is mine...
