Smittybilt has both synthetic and wire winch options, and they are affordable.

Recon 10.5k winch... comes with: Synthetic line (7/16 x 88'), 6.5 HP motor (compared to 5 or 5.5hp on others), 28 feet/minute line speed, hardwire remote, wireless remote, waterproof to 1m, 3 yr warranty, aluminum Hawse Fairlead, nothing but good reviews on this site and others... all for under $500... after searching around for weeks, these are the reasons I just bought a Recon.

Where did you get that deal?

The Recon sounds sweet. That may be my next winch. I have the Smitty XRC8 with Synth and love it. No reliability issues so far.

A Lot of good advice! I went with Superwinch LP10000. Got it for around $400 shipped and great, but I am not in Hell! I will be getting a synthetic line though, so another $100-175. I valued more pull power (I know.... Snatch block....) so that is what I was thinking when I bought. Let us know what you get and how you like it.

X2 Don't forget the Free neoprene cover if you send them a photo of it installed. Customer service was excellent as well on a minor issue I had.
