Thanks for the responses guys! I was leaning towards the Superwinch 8500, but I'm kind of liking the Engo after seeing that 4wd article... anyone have experience actually using one though? I've never heard of them before reading the article..

My used 08 JKU came with an old Chicago Electric, it was only 5 or 6K lbs but always worked and got me out of trouble more than once.

Won't catch me spending $1,000 on a winch, I'm gonna squeek spending that much on a bumper AND winch.

Just installed mine. Still did not have the opportunity to test but first impression is good. Well finished and seems to be well built.

This is it before I installed the bumper.

With bumper in place.

I'm installing the solenoid box inside the hood.

The 10,000 with synth line runs around 450, same as the Recon. With steel is in the high 300s buy after reading about all the benefits of the synthetic I decided to spend a bit more.

I love the Engo. It was cheap and has pulled anything I've hooked it up to. I can't complain at all. Definitely a must have

Their research was horrible then! They do not even have the same specs! They may look the same but that is it!

Quadratec has the Superwinch LP8500 for $299 right now. I've used mine to pull a Chevy 1500 out of mud up to his frame rails. I don't have a lot of other winch experience to compare it to, but it seemed to do it without much trouble.

One nice positive thing about the synthetic line is that because its much lighter weight (3lbs vs 19lbs) my Jeep did not sag at all even though I also have a full width LoD bumper.

Using original Sahara springs. Did not install the Rubis I got recently. It's my next project with the quick discos.
