Default Best winch in the $300 range

Hey guys, looking at entry-level winches... I've been eyeing the Mile Marker SEC8 and the Superwinch LP8500... both go for about $300. Anyone have experience with either of these, or prefer one over the other? ... Or maybe another brand that I'm totally missing? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Engo has a sale going on, from the sounds of the winch shootout, they are something to be impressed with.

I have the Smittybilt XRC8. Used it many times for many things. Love it. $299 shipped.

The Engo survived the multi winch torture test that 4wheeler did, the cheapest winch in the test.

Funny in the other thread how somebody did the research and found the Engo to be the same winch as the one they sell at harbor freight. I've read many other threads saying how people wouldn't touch those (HF) with a 10 ft pole.

I bought a 9000lb hf winch looks solid and no prob yet for $259 with a super saving cupon why not. Its disposable at that price if it blows up in a couple years. Read an article in 4x4 or another offroad mag last month on the 12000lb and they didnt have a bad thing to say. When it gernades ill let yall know but till then its a good deal imo.
