Default Best value 3" SL and 1" BL?

OK- so I know this is quite a bit of a thorny issue, but I would like to know what the best value for the money is when running a 3" suspension lift with a 3/4" or 1" body lift? Being new to the forum, I just can't seem to find a clear answer. I would like to clear 35s with a decent amount of clearance for when I go wheeling. Most of my driving is highway miles and am also looking for a comfortable ride. I have a 2 dr X, 6speed. What type of driveline issues should i consider as well? Trac-bars? Cam bolts? Disconnects? I don't do any serious rock crawling but surely I don't want to destroy my drivetrain with a lift on a mild trail. Any help would be great. Thanks JKers...

pretty much any 3" lift will clear 35's and so long as you get a kit that comes complete with new adjustable control arms and track bars, you can't go wrong. i have personally run both a full traction ultimate lift and a teraflex lift and can tell you that you will be happy with both. i have also installed a few currie rock jock lifts and clayton lifts and they are high quality kits as well. if you are on a budget, i rough country 4" lift is a good starter kit but i would recommend that you at least get an adjustable front track bar and front lower control arms to complete the kit. i would recommend that you stay away from cam bolts.

since you have a 6-speed, you will not need to install a new front driveshaft. however, you will want to install a new rear driveshaft sometime sooner than later as the steep angle it will be in will cause the CV boots to fail.

oh, also, so long as you get a complete kit as mentioned above, it will come with everything you need including swaybar discos.

Thanks for the quick reply. After looking closer at the full traction kits...I have a few questions. Between the premium and the ultimate kits, what is the main difference? It looks like the ultimate is a short-arm system, is this correct? And is the economy system a waste of time or would it suffice for my purposes as well?
After looking through all these kits and comparing to teraflex, it seems that teraflex may offer the better deal. Which company is really more reliable? The more I look online, I see rave reviews of both, but can't find a consensus. If i end up getting the 3" teraflex, would I need to regear? All of the full traction kits say no major driveline modification, so would this be better?

Also, I am leaning more towards teraflex at this point so anyone with this kit and any feedback about reliability/ride/articulation/off-road use would be great.

the premium kit does not come with adjustable control arms. i would go with the ultimate as the adjustability is something that you will want.

yes.

it has been my experience that any lift kit that give you 3" of lift or more should have the following at the very least: 1) adjustable front track bar to recenter your axle 2) adjustable front lower control arms to dial in your caster 3) adjustable rear upper control arms to set the pinion angle. most basic kits that don't include these items purposefully to make the kit cheap but i can tell you that it would be a mistake not to have them.

if that is the way you are leaning, i can tell you that you will be happy with it.

I have a Teraflex BB and 1" body lift with my 35s and did the Rubicon trail and Golden Spike/Moab Rim trail last year and it performed very well. It sounds like the trails you will be doing would not be as difficult as these so you could call up Northridge and get a Tera kit at a special price now(<$300) and a 1" Body lift for just over $100 and keep your stock control arms with no driveline changes.

It is a great place to start in my opinion and if you choose to go up from there you can sell that Tera kit on here and get most of your money back I bet.

I didn't notice your gear ratio, but you may start thinking about that. If you go to 35s with a stock ratio of 3.21 you probably won't be liking the lack of power.

i have wheeled with kidjeep several times including on the rubicon and can vouch for what he is saying. with this setup, you will be able to just about anything and for cheap.
