Default Best Sound for Flowmaster Exhaust

I know there are posts on here about somebody not wanting this exhaust because of this or that exhaust because of noise.... My question to the "Flowmasters" out there (or anyone with knowledge on this)...... Which Flowmaster exhaust sounds the meanest without sounding like a Harley? Is it possible to have a nice DEEP sound that doesn't sound like a rice-burner? Thanks for the info......

Haven't had one on the JK yet, but I'd recommend the 50 series SUV....not too loud, and kinda deep too.

I know it's a different engine, but here's a Liberty with the 50 series:

And a TJ with the 50 series:

I'm satisfied with the 80 series; it looks like duals and sounds good; especially with the Airaid.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the input. I'm planning on getting this done soon, probably tomorrow. The shop I'm going to has all the different models, so we'll see what happens. Keep the replies coming!

I say 40 series, i had one on my TJ. It sounds pretty mean but doesnt sound like a ricer. Its nice and deep if you dump it. If thats too loud you shoulda got a civic. Im just running a resognator off or my srt-4 rumper under the drivers seat, Its not loud at all but has a nice grumble to it. I plan on going with a 40 series or something as soon as i can find an off road catless pipe.

I really dont understand why everyone is so scared to have a loud exhaust, there really arent any that are "too loud". I guess its just me, iv always been into race cars so loud exhaust doesnt really phase me.

Default Exhaust

It's all a matter of personal preference. The reason I say "too loud" is this..... A guy drove by me the other day and I have no idea what he had on this truck, but it sounded like a Harley on steroids. It was ridiculous..... I want a nice "grumble" and don't mind it being loud, but I don't want to wake up my entire neighborhood when i leave for work every morning.

Not to mention it can aggravating as hell when you're on a trip or top down or just plain not in the mood for it. I've had exhaust on just about every vehicle I've had, and I'm toying with the idea of having the JK done also....it's just one of those things where sometime I like it nice and quiet and sometimes I want it LOUD....that's kinda hard to do, if someone figures that one out let me know!

I am looking to get a quiter exhaust for only one reason, I have a newborn coming in March. Other than that, I have been running Flowmaster on every vehicle (89 LX 5.0 Stang, 00 Silverado 4.3, 03 Silverado SS) except for my 06 Civic Si which had a Tanabe on it (had to stick with the genera). I would have no problem running the standard 40 on my JK but have a pretty good reason in my eyes. The only reason I have leaned more towards Magnaflow and not a 50 Series Deltaflow for the JK is that every one of Magnaflows mufflers come in Stainless and Flowmaster has a limited amount in Stainless, none of which I am interested in. With living in Maine where they salt, Stainless is the better way to go.

With the JK engine, not many mufflers will make it "too loud". I love my 40 series, and there's a whole thread dedicated to it that I started. If you've got a CAI, that will be far louder than the exhaust itself. Now, I can't say what just the muffler and no intake will sound like, because I had the intake before I had the 40, but the tone of the 40 is nice, not remotely like a ricer.

Also, whatever truck that was heard, that sounded likea harley on steriods, almost certainly had a v8 and on top of that had an agressive muffler. I just don't see our engine's producing too much noise, regardless of the exhaust. The only thing to decide on is what tone you happen to prefer. At idle, you can't really hear my 40 at all. I do believe if you go through the thread I started on the whole thing, that the guy at Flowmaster, recommended a 50 series though to match up best with our engines.
