Front Runner makes an awesome slimline jk rack. You can get a full rack or a half rack for freedom top use. Its a really nice clean and low profile design, a bit pricey though.

Update ARB series III + MBRP roofrack combo
Hi all, got the ultimate Christmas present, the ARB Series III rooftop tent even arrived at my doorstep (Brunei) on Christmas eve.....
Fantastic tent, it is a direct fit on my MBRP roof rack having the 'rails' 76cm apart (MBRP must have had this in mind) all fits very nicely, definitely recommendable !!! next is to get wifie in it for a spin
Happy Christmas and all the best for the new year !!!

OVerland Journal just did a roof rack comparison..
Seems like ARB won.. which I don't believe they make a JK rack yet.... but the notes on other brands would certainly be relevant in this discussion..

Thanks, the ARB Series III tent fitted direct on the MBRP roof rack, no modification required (tent nor rack). The MBRP is very strong with the forces fed through to the frame of the jeep.
As said great combo!

I custom built a very capable off-road trailer a few years ago and put an ARB roof-top-tent on it this year. I am going to Moab this week (staying in the RTT) and will post a few pictures in action when I get back.
Good luck,
