I'm torn between the Garvin & the Wild Boar. This isn't my first Rack. I know Quality and I like the simplicity and the fact they sit close to the Roof of the Jeep. Both come in just a little under a $1,000. where as the others are close if not more than $500. more. I just don't see it. Please, what persuaded you to spend the extra cash for the different Racks.

I had your same concerns... And for less than $50 I built this one that allows you to still use the two front freedom tops.... Have a write up on here... Search warrior permanent roof rack ....some more pics on my profile page as well...

I just happened to see the T&T Customs folks yesterday and they had their rack on their yellow show JK. It looked pretty nice.

Sorry for my late reply, indeed I cut the driver side (for you passenger side) front roof rack extension, needs if you but it at 60deg just below, leaving the holes for the light bar, you can easily fit the snorkel, hope these pictures make it more clear. Loving my roof rack and snorkel.

I went with similar solution. Used the Thule system for versatility reasons: can add/remove stuff so I can carry bicycles, kayaks or just stuff. :-)

Alright guys, I'm happy to let you know that I pulled the trigger and got the GOBI (gen1) roof rack. I'm picking it up and installing this tuesday. I'll update you with pics. My only concern is the wind noise and the soft top flutter, but it's a small price to pay for getting the rack and I'm happy to pay it. The best thing is that I can upgrade it to gen 2 recon parts if I want, just gotta throw out the extra cash!

Default Why would you want a Gobi rack for?

Are there any roof racks out there that will allow me to use my sun rider while still keeping the rack on my jeep? For the money I know that Gobi is the most expensive one out there, but from what I've seen, it was the best.

I have a 2010 2dr Rubicon with a soft top btw.
they are ugly out of place and way to expensive!
